Dead Space: Downfall
...Was pure win.
The animated prequel to EA's amazing survival horror game Dead Space, Dead Space: Downfall was awesome. It was so cool to watch people living and ultimately dying in the world of Dead Space. Especially since all the locations you see in the film are places you explore in-game.
It's also cool to be in on things the heroes in the animated movie don't know. Like during this one point in the movie when this chick slices open this huge, fat Necromorph... I was thinking, "don't do it! Just slice the head! cause if you cut him open..."
Then all these little things come out and eat her.
There was a slight over site in the movie though. At one point one of the characters takes an elevator down to what she says is the maintenance deck. In the game that elevator leads to a set of research labs, and the maintenance deck is in a totally different part of the ship.
Also... they have these really cool laser chainsaws in the movie. Sadly these aren't in the game. In the movie they bare a resemblance to the games Plasma Cutter. Maybe the movie uses an earlier concept of the cutter.
There are also nice easter eggs in the film, like a scene with the Issac Clarke's girl friend being asked if she has a boy friend she wants to see again. And how at one point the captain dies and his body is taken to the morgue, where in the game you have to get a key card from.
On a side note, I don't think you'd enjoy the movie much with out reading the comics and playing the actual game. Plus the whole thing has a very downer ending. After watching this however, it made me want to play the game some more, and not let the characters deaths be in vain. Especially this one chick that sends out the distress beacon.
I'ma go avenge her death right now.

Found a cool blog.
I was searching for pics of movie posters online, when I came across an awesome horror movie blog. It's called The Horror Club and it's full of great reviews, as well as news on up coming horror movies.
As some of you might know, I love my horror movies... and this blog is honestly one of the most informative sites I've found as far as horror movies goes.
Please if you do visit it, take the time to explore it properly.
Because of the site, I am now super stoked about Dead Girl and Able, which i found under "Movies to watch for..."

Got it on Saturday 25th October around 1pm... and finished it at 9:15am Tuesday 28th October(Diwali Morning) on the Hardest setting. With a game time of 10:39:03 Hours.

It was one hell of a ride. With a killer final boss and awesome horror movie ending. Unlocked 'Impossible' Mode. Lets see how bad it hurts.

I loved DOOM3
I really did. When I got my first real computer back in 2005, my buddy MJ installed on it a copy of Doom3, and it was love at first site. (In love with the game...not MJ)
When I had got my first shit PC in 1996, it came with a copy of Doom2. I played that game to bits. As I got behind the shotgun of Doom3, fond memories of sleepless nights and failed exams filled my head. Complete with an Iron maiden Sound track.
I was so into Doom3 that I even got a copy for my X box (Edit: Limited Collectors Edition that comes in a metal case). Even though i had finished it on PC on the nightmare setting. As if that wasn't enough, I also got The making of Doom3 book.
To bad the movie sucked though...and so did the expansion pack done by Raven software.
Doom 3 the game though was pure joy. Some people said that it didn't have much of a story...and that it played a bit too leaner. I thought it had more than enough story to justify shooting things in the face, and if you want more freedom of choice, go play something else.
Doom3 was spooky as too. Never had a game made me so terrified to go into a dark room. Sure it was all just polygons, and textures. But that's like saying The Exorcist was just make up.
I started thinking about Doom3 today as I was making my way through the bloodied halls of Dead Space. There's nothing like running down a deserted hallway with something big bad and ugly on ya tail, and your down to your last clip.
Here are some comics I did using the Doom3 game engine. You're going to have to save and zoom into em to read it properly:

Lost in Dead Space
Well I finally got my grubby little hands on EA's resent effort Dead Space. And I must say, it was everything I had hoped it would be.
Every so often you come across stuff that you just know won't let you down. Like when I saw the trailer for the Dawn of the Dead remake, or ID announced Doom3. In fact...not since Doom3 have I ever been so excited about a game. (Not counting Burning Crusade)
Dead Space may not accomplish much in terms of game innovations, but what it does do is shamelessly take everything you love about the Sci Fi/ Horror genre, and mold it into a monster that delivers all the thrills and spills you could hope for.
The monsters in the game are top notch, and the scenery and atmosphere is so thick you're gonna have to cut it with a bloody chainsaw. The weapons in the game are sweet too, not just your run of the mill guns and what have you...but rather, fancy mining and engineering tools that allow you to hack and slash away at that which seeks to do you harm.
The story is awesome too, and offers more than just a reason to shot things.
I'm probably gonna have to take a few days off to shoot me some of these nasties . I've actually started playing the game on the hardest setting so as to get the most out of it.
This is not really a review by the way...I just wanted to write a little something about the game and let you know that it rocks ass. The only reason I've stopped playing it to write this is because I'm down loading the Xbox 360 exclusive armor for my man Issac Clarke, so he can kick Necro Ass better. If you liked Resident Evil, Doom and Silent Hill... this baby is gonna rock your socks.
Hey...Issac Clarke
Issac Asimov + Arthur C. Clarke?
Maybe...

Jenna's Zombie Survival Guide
Zombies: The new Cool?
Is it just me or are Zombies becoming a lot cooler then they once were? It seems if you wanna add a little more cred to anything now days....go zombie.
Esp in video games... It looks like the winning ingredient now days is "just add zombies"
Stalker...Halo... and even recently in World Of Warcraft.
Zombies are creeping into everything. Even our local pirate video chain (the one that has "Commitment to quality") seems to be stocking up on loads of Zombie movies.
Marvels Comics went as far as getting their heroes infected and causing mayhem in their recent 'Marvel Zombies' saga.
And not to be out done... Even Rock Stars recent effort, Grand Theft Auto 4 isn't safe. I thought that, like the San An game before it, some yahoo would eventually make a mod to add zombies to the mix. But it seems Rock Star can't wait...and have added em in any way. Read what i got in my mail this morning:
There is a virus sweeping through Grand Theft Auto IV turning many unsuspecting players into Zombies. If you’ve seen the special Zombie-with-yellow-briefs player skin running around during Grand Theft Auto IV multiplayer, then you may already know that the virus can be contracted in any and all multiplayer modes and is spread when an unsuspecting player kills someone who has the infection (note that the infected don’t necessarily have to be wearing the Zombie skin, some show no symptoms!). The signs of infection are: access to the zombie skin and having the Achievement “Let Sleeping Rockstars Lie”. With the all-new Viral Infection feature at the Rockstar Social Club, members can now see whether they are currently infected, the number of total global infections and the number of infections in the last 24 hours. Digging deeper, Social Club members can also browse a color-coded world map tracking the spread of the infection worldwide, including breakdown for all 50 US States.
On a side note: Not every one in WoW is currently happy with the recent Zombie out Break. 1UP had a very interesting article about it which you can find here.
Edit: On the same day I wrote this post, The gaming news site Kotaku had an article which was titled Zombies+Anything=Awesomer. The article very briefly talks about how the next Call of Duty game has a Zombie mode at the end of it.
