What's he building in there?

Was listening to a bit of Tom Waits.

Now what's that sound from under the door?
He's pounding nails into a
Hardwood floor... and I
Swear to god I heard someone
Moaning low...

What's he building in there?
What the hell is he building
In there?

Deadpool Vs Zombies

I may not be a HUGE fan of Marvel... but even as a DC fan I know that Marvel has some cool characters. I love the Punisher, Daredevil... all the Spider Man villains (Except the Vulture ... I mean WTF?)

But one fella I really like from Marvel is Deadpool. He is so damn bad ass and hella funny. It's like forcing Spiderman and the Punisher to have hot web sex... and Deadpool would be their forbidden love fruit.

Yeah... I out did my self there.

So recently I got my self a couple of issues of Marvels latest Deadpool run. As I was reading through I was impressed with the crazy art and funny shizz here and there... but then I came across an issue that made me go "Well gosh darn it... these Marvel boys are alright"

Around issue 4 or 5, Deadpool is hired by this guy to track down and kill his wife... because she's become a zombie :D

What follows are some fun antics... mixed with blood, gore and big breasted zombie nurses.

Which makes for good reading.

I also need to get me self the latest chapter of Marvel Zombies, another title that I've very much enjoyed for obvious reasons. It seems in the latest tale of super heroes gone zombie... Deadpool's head has a lot to say.

Because... it's a zombie head.

A zombie head that has become so popular that it's even going to feature in the regular Deadpool monthly...

So we get to see Deadpool... teamed up with his zombie head.

Gosh darn Marvel... it's like you know me so well.

Also... when I Googled "Deadpool vs zombies" I got this.

In non zombie related news

I thought Terminator: Salvation fucking sweet. Doing a follow up to a classic such that is T2 isn't easy, and T3 proved that the formula that is the Terminator series can be turned into something your cat throws up ... and then eats. But Salvation put up a good fight.

And it had enough throw backs to the older movies to keep me nudging my friends every other minute saying shit like"That's the Guns n Roses song from the chase scene in part 2!!"

Sadly, Salvation has been getting a lot of crap online from critics... and I don't it deserves it. I think the movie accomplished exactly what it set out to do: and that's deliver more Terminator goodness for fans who want more Terminator while keeping things some what fresh.

Remember that even though the movie is set in the future, it ultimately serves as a prequel. Which means that the space that it has to play in is some what limited. This isn't Citizen Kane meets Blade Runner. It's an action movie with Sci-Fi elements. Sure it's not as mind blowingly genre bending as part 2. But few movies are these days.

If you love the old Terminator movies, and you watch em over and over and wish for more... this baby has the goods. I'm so gonna get the DVD, so I can give my Ultimate edition of part 2 a break :D

My buddy Albie and I had some time before the movie, so we decided to get productive in my studio.

Have a listen :D

Condemned 2 is f**king scary

My girl friend is away for a few nights, which means... that I can watch 28 Days Later as many times as I like. It also means that I can spend a few extra hours on the 360.

So I rented my self a copy of Condemned 2: Blood Shot.

I played the first Condemned game a few years back, and sadly I didn't think too much of it. I know that now the first game has a huge following, but it just didn't click with me at the time. Being home alone... I was looking for a game to fiddle around with, so I decided to give the sequel a try. So I got home and loaded this baby up. I then noticed that the game was made by Monolith, who were the same happy people that brought us another cool game called FEAR... and its sequels. So I knew I was in for something interesting.

... Fuck man.

Talk about a gaming experience.

What the fuck is this thing meant to be?

If there's one thing that I love more than a good game, is a good game that can scare the shit out of me.

And I've played pretty much all the horror titles that would be worth playing. Like all the Resident evil games...

No... wait.

I didn't play that damn one where you play like... one of nine or ten people... in like a city, I think it was online. And I didn't play the second Resident Evil Survivor, cause the first one was terrible.

I've played all the Silent Hills... wait... except the 'Homecoming' one. Played Dead Space... I fucken love Dead Space. Played Doom3...

I think you get the picture.

A dead baby doll, who the hell plays with something like that?

But Condemned 2... 3 hours into it and I didn't want to go on. Not because it was a shit game, but because it was stressing me out. I can't remember the last time a game has poked and tore through my nerves like this game did. This game is so damn scary...

Most of the time when Iplay a horror game... I catch my self going "Shit son... that's so fucking cool!"

Like when you're watching a Zombie movie. I just can't see them too much as horror movies anymore, only because they have become so much fun for me to watch. Sometimes I cheer at head shots... or other times I exclaim "Shit son"

But Condemned 2 is like the Exorcist... it's just creepy. It tries to fuck with your head at a level that you can't hide underneath a blanket. It has the kind of 'scary/ messed up factor' that I felt in the first Silent Hill. Cool ideas hacked up and turned into a new kind of scare.

(one sec... my stuffed Alf is creeping me out)

It starts off simple enough... you beat up a few bums(Yeah bums) to learn the basics of hand to hand combat. Then you spot this old guy that you know... I'm assuming his from part one.

He runs off... you chase him... and bad shit follows.

When this game starts the thrills... it dunna let up.

I know I've kinda gotten to this game a bit late... but graphics wise it still works. But what does it, is the mad/ creepy atmosphere. The dark, dying city around you makes you feel like you're inside some kind of rotting dead animal. The sound is awesome too.

The whole thing is also very cinematic, and sets up the scares and the mind fucks very well. It's also played through in first person, which allows for some cool combat moves that reminded me of Riddicks Butcher Bay happy fun time Adventure.

I don't really want to get to any kind of 'review' of this game. If your a fan of horror games, chances are you've played this baby already. But if you haven't, it's definitely worth picking up.

I found a really cool review of the game here... do give it a read.

Edit: The scary factor of the game faded out about half way through... and it becomes less of a challenge once you've mastered the combos. Plus the ending was a huge let down... sequenced button mashing isn't fun during boss fights.

ZOMG

I'm so gona watch this...

Sorry Horror Club. Too cool...had to steal it.

More Octopusousouses and new books

So I was at my haunted office and I was thinking more about The Octopus. Obvious Spider man villain comparisons aside... I reckon he makes for an interesting chracter. I'm sure visually, an artist would have a lot of fun with the guy. Which is probably why Spidy's arch nemesis is such a great bad guy.

I also got me some cool Sci Fi books today. 1966 editions of E.E. 'Doc' Smith's 1930s master works. Got one of his SkyLark books and five of the Lensman books.

I actually went looking for some simple pulp fiction sci-fi books today. Like the books that aren't your Asimovs or your Philip K. Dicks (He he). I just wanted to read some cheap retro- sci fi fun.

But instead I found these beauties...

I love Retro Sci fi... there's just a certain 'magic' to them that I find lacking in todays modern sci fi. Now days so much has been grounded in reality... the suspension of disbelief isn't as high as it used to be. But back in the 30s to the early 60s... they wrote about sci fi at a time when man hadn't even been to the moon.

It pushed the imagination to massive heights... without a fear of not being too practical. Not that these works were so 'out there' that they became crazy. The big guns like Clarke, Asimov, Heinlein and Dick (he he) wrote a lot of things that made the scientific mind boggle in excitement.

Plus I just love them retro covers :D

I had an interesting day

So this morning I got to work pretty early... well 7:30 am which is pretty early to me.

Any way...

So I was at the office and I punched in and stuff... then I went to my studio. So I got to the hall way that leads to the studio, and all the lights where off. We leave all unnecessary lights off over night so we don't blow up the planet.

Now... the door to my studio has this little window on it, I'm not sure why, but it kind of lets us see what's going on in side. As I'm walking up to my studio door, I see some one inside the studio.

I immediately think to my self that it's probably this mate of mine who is the director for one of our radio stations. He has a spare key because sometimes he uses my studio to go over music and shizz.

But then I thought to my self that he wouldn't be in this early on a Monday morning, and that perhaps he'd left the door open while using it over the weekend, and now maybe the cleaner is in there.

... working in the dark?

My Studio PC

So when I got to the door, I gave it a shove... but only to find that it was locked. I then thought that it might be my mate and his probably watching a DVD or something in there. (Big speakers = sweet sound)

But when I unlock the door and go inside... there's no one there.

...

Oddly I gave this no further thought and went on to check my emails. Visited Explosm.net and pretty much had a normal Monday morning.

I then went out for a smoke and when I got back I met up with two of our on-air announcers, Allen and Liz and Liz looked pretty shock up. I asked Allen what was up with her and he said that she thinks she'd seen a ghost.

Right...

So she tells me that she was in the studio next to mine at around 4:30am... waiting for her show to start at 5am... when she dozed off.

She then woke up cause she could feel someone (or something) standing over her. She looked around but couldn't see anything... then she felt something grab her feet.

She freaked the fuck out and got out of there as fast as she could, and she swears that as she was leaving that she saw this guy out of the corner of her eye... and he was wearing a pair of blue over rolls.

Now this I found very interesting because a few years back... another mate of mine who was working late a few nights, said that he had also seen a guy hanging about in blue over rolls. This was late at night when no one else is around and everything is locked up.

I told Liz what had happened to me and I mentioned how my mate had seen that guy a few times too... and now we're both spooked.

Next up I mentioned this whole thing to my CEO, and him and I had a good laugh about it.

At about mid day we had a 'Team Leaders' meeting and we went around talking to all the fellas from the different departments about complaints about this and that. But then we came to a complaint from our Liberian who said that this morning in one of the ladies room, she found all this bows made out of toilet paper all over the floor. I'm not sure how many there were... but she said there were lots. Then our HR officer said she found a similar mess in another ladies toilet closer to my studio.

...Odd.

But then the news room guy mentions that they would like a new lock for the news room door. When asked why, he said because someone had come in over night and moved things around. His exact words were something like: 'Someone is hanging out in there and moving things'

Thing is... the number of people who are in the building over night a very limited, and most of them are pretty reliable and wouldn't make a mess in the news room or in the toilets.

So...

If you add all this up... we had four weird events that would maybe not have gotten much attention if they had happened individually. But just the crazy coincidence that it all happened over the same night and early morning... tis a little freaky.

So I actually have my studio mics on and up high to see what they can catch tonight.

:D

Same drug... better version?

If you've spent enough time going through this blog, you'd know that I am a huge game whore for Dead Space. But if there is one other game that ripped and tore up most of my time (aside from World of Warcraft... that evil monster) it would be Capcom's Dead Rising.

When I picked up Dead Rising and started playing... it was total bliss. A whole zombie apocalypse... in the palm of my hands. Um... on my TV!!

Dead Rising puts the player smack in the middle of a Zombie infested mall, where our 'hero' has to survive for 72 hours while waiting for a helicopter pick up. The coolest thing about the game is that you just have to survive, and that means using what ever you can find to hit, smack up and smash the shit out of zombies.

Dead Rising 2

You also get to meet a whole lot of colorful characters along the way... and help them get to a safe house or watch them die trying. The games you so many options in terms of weapons, clothing, play style ... that it totally feels like a huge unique package. All the areas are done in a clever way that it gives you a scene of this huge world... all the while trapped inside the mall. Except if you unlock day 4, then you get to muck around the sewers and fight a tank!

Well... why the hell am I going on about this game that I've blogged about before?

Cause they got part 2 coming out soon!

And it's set in Fortune City which looks a hella lot like Vegas! and it promises a whole shit load of new things that will make part one look like a walk in the park.

Check out this trailer... it rocks so hard!

If I don't play this game my brain will have a fucking aneurysm!
